Marketing and Email Outreach
After.PVD is an independent electronic music event organization based in Providence, RI, built around techno and its harder derivatives. We don't just throw parties. We create contained, atmospheric experiences where energy, music, and community converge. Our events are intentionally enigmatic: tickets sell through Posh (posh.vip), location is revealed day-of via WhatsApp, and everything we put out reflects a brand rooted in darkness, intensity, and collective motion.
We've built something real in a short time — our event PRISM set an attendance record of 280 people, and early bird tickets for subsequent events have sold out before any public announcement. Our subscriber base currently sits between 1000-2000, and we're growing.
The Role
We're looking for an email marketer to own our direct communications channel end-to-end. This is a hands-on, creative position for someone who can write with atmosphere, think strategically about a small but loyal audience, and execute cleanly across ticketing, merch, and community feedback touchpoints.
Responsibilities
Ticket Sales
Write and send event announcement emails to the subscriber list ahead of each show
Craft follow-up and urgency sequences as events approach (e.g., limited tickets, day-of reminders)
Maintain brand voice — enigmatic, sparse, community-forward — across every send
Merch Outreach
Promote apparel drops (current line: Resonance, available via Square) to the subscriber list
Develop product-focused campaigns that fit the aesthetic without feeling transactional
Customer Feedback
Design and deploy post-event feedback surveys or short-form questionnaires
Summarize and report findings to help inform future event decisions
List & Platform Management
Manage the subscriber list, segmentation, and send cadence
We currently use Zoho Campaigns for email delivery, but are open to migrating to a better-fit platform (e.g., MailerLite, Klaviyo, or Loops) if there's a strong case for it
Maintain clean HTML email templates consistent with After.PVD's visual identity (dark background #0a0000, red accents #c0390a, Share Tech Mono / Bebas Neue fonts)
What We're Looking For
Strong copywriting instincts — you can write short, sharp, atmospheric prose that doesn't sound like marketing
Comfort working with HTML email templates (we have reusable templates ready to go)
Experience with email platforms at a small-list scale (200–400 subscribers)
Self-directed and async-friendly; this isn't a hand-holding environment
Bonus: familiarity with the underground electronic music world or similar subculture communities
Details
List size: 1000 (growing). Avoid getting our emails sent as spam!
Send frequency: ~2–4 emails per event cycle, plus occasional merch and feedback sends
Current tools: Zoho Campaigns, Posh (ticketing), Square (merch), Cloudinary (image hosting)
