Founder Associate (Early-Stage Startup)
About the role
I’m building an early-stage startup and am looking for a Founder Associate to work directly with me on research, writing, and execution across the company’s highest-priority tasks.
This is a generalist, high-leverage role. You’ll help turn ideas and decisions into clear outputs—docs, drafts, research, shortlists—so the company can move faster. The scope will evolve week to week based on what matters most.
This is not a co-founder role and not a traditional internship. It’s best suited for someone who enjoys ambiguity, thinks clearly, and wants hands-on exposure to how a startup is built from zero.
What you’ll do
Examples of work include:
• Research and synthesize markets, competitors, and adjacent YC companies
• Draft clear, concise written materials (user messages, internal docs, job posts)
• Support hiring efforts (posting roles, reviewing portfolios, shortlisting candidates)
• Help coordinate operational tasks and follow-ups
• Take on special projects as priorities change
Who this is for
You might be a good fit if you:
• Are a college student or early-career generalist
• Write clearly and think in structure, not just bullet points
• Can turn vague prompts into organized, useful output
• Are comfortable working asynchronously with limited direction
• Care about quality and judgment more than checking boxes
• You don’t need startup experience. You do need good instincts and follow-through.
Time & compensation
Time: ~5–10 hours per week, flexible and async
Compensation: Equity only at this stage (with standard vesting).
Cash compensation will be revisited once the company raises or generates revenue.
How to apply
This role is being shared selectively. If you’re interested, reach out directly with:
• A brief note on why this role makes sense for you
• Anything that shows how you think or write (optional but encouraged)
