Our client, a highly respected and stable insurance provider, is seeking an experienced Senior Insurance Claims Adjuster specializing in auto claims to join their team in Detroit, Michigan, US . This role is pivotal in managing complex auto insurance claims from initial reporting through to settlement, ensuring fairness, accuracy, and adherence to policy terms and legal requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of auto repair processes, damage assessment techniques, liability investigation, and negotiation strategies. You will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations, gathering evidence, interviewing involved parties, and evaluating damages to determine coverage and liability. This position requires exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively manage claimant expectations and liaise with repair shops, legal counsel, and other stakeholders. A commitment to providing excellent customer service while upholding the company's integrity is paramount. Responsibilities: Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate complex auto insurance claims in accordance with policy provisions and company guidelines. Conduct thorough on-site inspections of damaged vehicles to assess the extent of damage and estimate repair costs accurately. Interview claimants, witnesses, and other parties involved in the accident to gather all relevant information. Determine liability and coverage based on policy terms, investigation findings, and applicable laws. Review repair estimates from body shops and negotiate fair settlement amounts. Manage a caseload of assigned claims, ensuring timely processing and resolution. Maintain detailed and accurate claim files, documenting all actions, communications, and decisions. Communicate effectively and empathetically with claimants, providing clear explanations of the claims process and settlement offers. Collaborate with legal counsel on litigated claims as necessary. Stay current with industry trends, legal requirements, and best practices in claims adjusting. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. 5+ years of experience as an auto claims adjuster, with a demonstrated ability to handle complex claims. Proven knowledge of auto repair processes, vehicle components, and industry standard estimating software (e.g., Mitchell, CCC). Strong understanding of insurance policies, coverage types, and liability principles. Excellent negotiation, communication, and customer service skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Proficiency in claims management software and standard office applications. Relevant adjuster licenses (state-specific) are required or must be obtained.
