The company, formed in 2020 through the combination of Raytheon Company and the United Technologies Corporation aerospace businesses, is headquartered in Arlington, VA.</p><p></p><p><b>The following position is to join our RTX Corporate Communications Team team:</b></p><p></p><p>RTX is seeking a skilled and strategic <b>Associate Director of Public Affairs for Defense</b> to help shape and execute communications strategies that support RTX's defense policy and business objectives. In this role, you will collaborate across teams to develop and implement advocacy initiatives, thought leadership efforts, and policy-focused campaigns that engage key stakeholders and advance the company’s priorities. You will work closely with internal and external partners to align communications strategies, manage pressing issues, and contribute to RTX’s reputation as a leader in the aerospace and defense industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive meaningful impact through integrated public affairs efforts.</p><p></p><p><b>What You Will Do:</b></p><ul><li><p>Develop and execute advocacy communications strategies to advance RTX defense policy and business priorities leveraging thought leadership, media relations, marketing, third party advocacy, crisis response, digital advocacy, and coalition building. Ensure advocacy strategies align with RTX Business Unit, RTX Communications and Global Government Relations goals and are supported by performance metrics to optimize effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.</p></li><li><p>Partner closely with the RTX Communications centers of excellence (COEs) and subject matter experts in Global Government Relations and the Business Units to drive and shape policy outcomes through Public Affairs solutions reaching the Executive branch, U.S. Congress, U.S. Department of Defense.</p></li><li><p>Support policy-focused thought leadership to position RTX as a thought leader in key defense issues. Work with external partners such as tier 1 media organizations and think tanks to achieve objectives.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to inform the company’s response on pressing issues. Support the reputation management of the company to influence decisionmakers in coordination with the RTX Communications COEs.</p></li><li><p>Integrate policy communications strategies into defense-specific RTX Communications Campaigns. Collaborate across RTX Communications COEs to contribute to campaigns such as through stakeholder mapping and developing policy messaging to help position RTX for growth.</p></li><li><p>Supports development of and maintains communications deliverables (talking points, key messages, prep packages, speeches, holding statements, etc.) in coordination with business partners and communications centers of expertise (COEs) to support public affairs communications strategies for defense policy and business priorities.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications You Must Have:</b></p><ul><li><p>Typically requires a University Degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Public Relations or related field and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience <b><u>or</u> </b>an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience <b><u>or</u></b> in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience</p></li><li><p>U.S. citizenship is <b>required</b>, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain necessary systems or sites.</p></li><li><p>Previous project management experience to deliver strategic communications solutions in matrixed organizations.</p></li><li><p>Takes initiative to deliver effective and creative outcome-driven public affairs solutions in a fast-paced environment. </p></li><li><p>Demonstrated excellent judgement to advise on risk mitigation and reputation management.</p></li><li><p>Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
