Position Overview
We are excited to announce an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and motivated Remote Accountant to join our Corporate Tax Division. This position is responsible for the bookkeeping functions associated with sales and use tax and permit to operate compliance processes. The ideal candidate will participate in the monthly accounting close cycle, prepare recurring monthly journal entries, and organize general ledger account reconciliations. This role requires strong knowledge of general ledger data analysis and the ability to create monthly data files that reconcile the general ledger for our co-source tax compliance provider.
No prior sales tax experience is required – we provide comprehensive training and support to help you succeed! The ideal applicant will work closely with our Senior Tax Accountants to ensure the completion of daily accounting and tax activities in our Corporate Tax Division. This position requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines. This is a remote position based in Atlanta, offering a flexible, area-free schedule that allows you to balance your professional and personal commitments while contributing to our organization's financial excellence.
Key Responsibilities
As a Remote Accountant at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with a variety of critical responsibilities that directly impact our financial operations and compliance standing. Your daily activities will include:
- Financial Statement Preparation and Analysis: Prepare and analyze income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and other accounting statements and reports. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness in all financial documentation, providing management with reliable data for strategic decision-making.
- Journal Entry Review and Verification: Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting orders assigned to various accounts. This includes performing detailed reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain data integrity.
- Accounting Standards Application: Apply sound accounting principles and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures. You will stay current with evolving accounting standards and regulations, ensuring our practices remain compliant and efficient.
- Team Collaboration and Mentorship: Educate or assign work to junior accountants, accounting clerks, and other stakeholders participating in daily accounting activities. This includes providing guidance, sharing best practices, and fostering professional development within the team.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination: Coordinate accounting matters with different offices, locations, and departments to ensure seamless financial operations across the organization. Effective communication and collaboration are essential for achieving departmental objectives.
- Financial Reporting Participation: Actively participate in financial reporting activities, contributing to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. You will work closely with senior finance leadership to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Tax Compliance Support: Support the sales and use tax compliance processes by preparing monthly data files and performing general ledger reconciliations for our external tax compliance partners. This role is crucial in maintaining our tax compliance standing.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the accounting cycle. Your insights and recommendations will help streamline operations and enhance overall department performance.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be eighteen years of age or older
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize multiple high-demand assignments effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional accounting experience preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Experience with general ledger software systems such as SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Proven track record of managing and executing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
