Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to fill a remote position that offers competitive compensation of $25-$35 per hour.   • Financial Advisory and Guidance: Provide expert counsel and guidance to more experienced management and team members regarding financial bookkeeping-related matters, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
  • Complex Accounting Exercises: Perform complex exercises related to maintaining record accounts, developing fiscal summaries, and preparing comprehensive administrative reports that support strategic decision-making.
  • Financial Data Analysis: Accumulate and critically examine financial information to prepare accurate monetary and administrative reports that reflect the organization's financial health and performance.
  • Account Reconciliation: Review information from the general ledger, unit reports, and various financial systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Reconciliation and Verification: Prepare and review account reconciliations and confirmations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Process Improvement: Investigate and evaluate projects relating to financial bookkeeping procedures, techniques, and systems, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Internal Controls: Perform ongoing financial control functions in accordance with internal control policies, ensuring robust risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide practical advice, guidance, and training to team members, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing within the organization.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess the following essential qualifications and demonstrate a proven track record of excellence in financial accounting:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Analysis, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting, or Risk Reporting, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and other data analysis functions.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical abilities with the capacity to interpret and summarize complex financial data into understandable, meaningful information and actionable recommendations.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation processes.
  • Time Management: Strong ability to organize and manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give candidates a competitive edge and are highly valued at arenaflex:

  • Regulatory Reporting Experience: 2+ years of SEC/Regulatory quarterly reporting experience, demonstrating knowledge of regulatory requirements and reporting standards.
  • Industry Systems: Fiserv knowledge and understanding, particularly related to financial transaction processing and reporting systems.
  • Internal Controls: Experience with COSO-based Sarbanes-Oxley internal control assessment implementation, showcasing expertise in internal control frameworks and compliance.
  • Military Background: Military knowledge or analysis experience including operational management, project management, mission construction management, and financial management.
  • Industry Specialization: 1+ year of credit card industry reporting experience and knowledge of corporate/business loan products.
  • Professional Certification: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, demonstrating advanced professional competence and commitment to the field.
  • Public Accounting Background: Big 4 or regional public accounting/financial services experience, providing exposure to diverse clients and complex financial scenarios.
  • Technical Tools: Intermediate Essbase/SmartView experience and advanced Microsoft Excel skills with VLOOKUP and pivot tables expertise.
  • Automation Expertise: Strong knowledge and experience with general ledger reconciliation and automation tools, demonstrating ability to streamline financial processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Independent judgment and creative problem-solving skills to analyze, identify, and anticipate downstream effects in complex matrixed environments.
  • Accounting Standards: Knowledge and understanding of US GAAP financial statements or parts preparation, with the ability to interpret and summarize complex data into understandable, meaningful information and recommendations.
  • Control Environment: Demonstrated understanding of accounting/reporting/internal control issues, with the ability to apply this knowledge to real-world scenarios.
