Content Writer – Animal Advocacy

Senior Advocacy Writer – Animal Protection Nonprofit (Remote) Location: Remote Industry: Nonprofit / Animal Protection About Us We are a science-driven nonprofit working to end the cycle of suffering for over one billion homeless animals each year through innovative, cruelty-free strategies and systemic reform. Our work focuses on addressing the largest global sources of suffering for dogs and cats and expanding evidence-based solutions for wildlife species in need. We are seeking an experienced professional writer with a background in animal protection organizations to support advocacy campaigns, donor engagement, and public education. Key Areas of Work The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the following four areas: 1. Advocacy Petitions Research and write persuasive petitions and advocacy messages encouraging supporters to take action on legislation, policy, and animal cruelty cases. 2. Email Marketing Create compelling email campaigns and action alerts that mobilize supporters, increase engagement, and communicate organizational impact. 3. Donor Communications Write donor thank-you letters and stewardship communications that build trust, appreciation, and long-term relationships with supporters. 4. Website and Social Media Postings Develop clear, engaging content for blog posts, website updates, and social media channels to educate the public and amplify our mission. Responsibilities • Write persuasive advocacy content and petitions • Draft donor communications and stewardship messages • Create email campaigns and newsletters • Develop website and social media content • Research legislation and animal welfare issues to ensure accuracy • Edit and proofread content for clarity, tone, and consistency • Collaborate with a remote team across time zones Required Qualifications • Exceptional written English skills are required, as this role involves professional writing and editing. • Paid writing experience with animal protection, animal welfare, or animal rights organizations • Experience writing advocacy petitions, email marketing campaigns, donor communications, and website/social media content • Excellent written communication and storytelling skills • Strong research ability and attention to detail • Familiarity with digital communication tools (Google Docs, email platforms, CMS tools) • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently • Passion for animal protection and systemic change To Apply Please submit: • Resume at alex@600MillionDogs.org and cc it to hira@600MillionDogs.org • 2–3 writing samples (advocacy or nonprofit writing preferred) • A brief description of your paid experience writing for animal protection organizations Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $50,000.00 per year Benefits: • Paid time off Application Question(s): • How many years of experience do you have working as a writer for an animal welfare organization or an international animal protection organization?
