Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Power BI & Business Intelligence Analyst to support enterprise analytics initiatives within a large public-sector technology environment.
This role focuses on transforming raw data into actionable insights through Power BI dashboards, enterprise data models, and scalable analytics frameworks. The selected consultant will work closely with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality reporting solutions and enable self-service analytics across the organization.
The ideal candidate combines strong Power BI development expertise, advanced SQL skills, and experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
Key Responsibilities
Business Intelligence Development
• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models
• Build enterprise-grade data models using Power Query, DAX, and star-schema design
• Create scalable datasets and reusable reporting assets for enterprise analytics
• Ensure dashboards and visualizations are intuitive, performant, and aligned with business needs
Data Analysis & Insights
• Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement
• Translate business questions into data-driven insights and visual storytelling
• Present analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Data Modeling & Platform Integration
• Design scalable star-schema data models
• Partner with data engineering teams to optimize Snowflake schemas, pipelines, and performance
• Validate data accuracy and ensure consistency across BI assets and reporting environments
Self-Service Analytics Enablement
• Support and enhance self-service analytics environments
• Develop curated datasets, data dictionaries, and business glossaries
• Monitor adoption of analytics tools and improve the self-service ecosystem
Data Governance & Best Practices
• Implement BI best practices including version control, documentation, and governance
• Define standards for dataset ownership, lifecycle management, and role-based access
• Establish best practices for report creation and dataset usage
Training & Stakeholder Enablement
• Develop and deliver train-the-trainer programs for analysts and power users
• Create training materials, documentation, and workshops for Power BI and Snowflake datasets
• Mentor business teams on interpreting data insights and building reports
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, analytics, or data modeling roles
• 5+ years of advanced Power BI development including:
• DAX
• Power Query
• Data modeling
• Semantic datasets
• Strong SQL expertise with hands-on experience in Snowflake, Databricks, or similar platforms
• 5+ years supporting self-service analytics environments
• Strong experience working with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint)
• Experience implementing data governance, metadata management, and BI standards
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Ability to operate in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in public sector or large enterprise environments
• Knowledge of enterprise data governance and data management frameworks
• Experience supporting data modernization or legacy-to-modern platform migrations
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field
