Nonprofit Board Member
Founding Board Member (Volunteer Leadership Role)
High Desert Memory Recreation Center (HDMRC)
Yucca Valley / Morongo Basin, CA | Hybrid
Volunteer Governance Role | 5–8 Hours Per Month
Help Build a Critical Community Resource
High Desert Memory Recreation Center (HDMRC) is launching the first structured adult day program in the Morongo Basin dedicated specifically to individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Our mission is simple but urgent:
To provide safe, therapeutic daytime programming for individuals with memory loss while giving caregivers meaningful respite and support.
We are currently forming our Founding Board of Directors — a small group of professionals who will help guide HDMRC through licensing, launch, and long-term sustainability.
This is a volunteer governance role, not an employment position. However, the time commitment is modest and the community impact is substantial.
Why This Role Is Worth Your Time
Meaningful community impact in an underserved region
Leadership experience in a mission-driven startup nonprofit
Opportunity to shape policy, standards, and systems from inception
Professional recognition as a Founding Board Member
A structured, limited monthly time commitment
This is an opportunity to build something lasting — not simply advise from the sidelines.
Time Commitment
Approximately 5–8 hours per month
Monthly board meeting (virtual or hybrid)
Participation in one committee aligned with your expertise
Occasional involvement during key milestones (licensing, grant submissions, launch)

We are building a balanced board that collectively covers governance, finance, compliance, fundraising, and operations.

Assist with community outreach and fundraising initiatives
Serve as an ambassador for HDMRC within the High Desert community
