About Next Gen Career Pathway's Summer Internships: The 2026 College Summer Internship Program offers students nationwide a chance to gain practical experience while exploring careers in the water industry. Each intern will have a Valley Water staff mentor and will receive professional development training, participate in networking events, and prepare a capstone presentation at the end of the program. Although some positions in the program will follow a hybrid format, with a mix of in-office and remote work based on business needs, other roles may require interns to work on-site full-time in a lab, office, or field setting, as specified in the job postings. About The Office of Communications Unit: The Office of Communications oversees Valley Water public materials and content. Made up of four collaborative teams. Communications provides relevant and timely information on Valley Water projects and programs to highlight the agency's work of providing safe, clean water, flood protection and environmental stewardship to residents and businesses in Santa Clara County. At the heart of the Office of Communications is the Graphic Services team - a creative powerhouse dedicated to crafting visually compelling and innovative design solutions. Our mission is to amplify impactful storytelling and deliver branding that resonates across diverse audiences, ensuring every message is both engaging and meaningful. INTERNSHIP LOCATION STATUS: This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite. For hybrid work, intern must perform their work in the state of California within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in (San Jose, California) by their start date. DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES • Students pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Design Studies, or a related field • Coursework completed or in progress in design, layout, typography, branding, or digital media • Experience with or interest in learning Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) • Interest in learning project management and digital asset systems • Interest in developing core professional competencies such as communication, problem-solving, collaboration, organization, adaptability, and attention to detail • Interest in public-sector or community-based design and storytelling KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERNSHIP TASKS (Representative duties include, but are not limited to): • Support the Graphics Team with print and digital design projects • Assist in creating flyers, brochures, reports, signage, presentations, social media, and web graphics • Prepare and adapt… Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
