Responsibilities • Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy for billing purposes • Assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9/ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) codes, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for claims submission • Prepare and submit insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies • Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards • Assist in medical collection efforts by contacting patients regarding outstanding balances • Support the team with general administrative tasks related to medical billing and coding processes Skills • Basic understanding of medical billing procedures and revenue cycle management • Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and DRG classifications • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, and healthcare documentation standards • Experience with EMR systems and EHR platforms for data entry and claim processing • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving healthcare regulations • Effective communication skills for interacting with insurance providers, patients, and team members Embark on a rewarding career path in healthcare by applying your passion for accuracy, organization, and patient care.
