This is an evergreen position created to proactively build a pipeline of qualified Defensive Immigration Attorneys for current and future openings within our Defensive Department. We are seeking a passionate and motivated Defensive Immigration Attorney to join our thriving legal team. This is a full-time position based in Fairfax, VA, Silver Spring, MD, or Newark, NJ, with the expectation of on-site presence three days a week. As a valued member of our firm, you will: Manage your own caseload while meeting case progression benchmarks. Collaborate closely with paralegals and fellow attorneys to ensure seamless case handling. Participate in firm committees under the guidance of firm partners, contributing to the firm's operations and success. Responsibilities • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis for immigration law cases. • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on immigration matters, including asylum, cancellation of removal, and general removal defense. • Prepare and draft legal documents and correspondence with precision and attention to detail. • Provide effective guidance and support to clients throughout the immigration process. • Lead and manage multiple case files with strong organizational skills. • Collaborate with team members to enhance legal strategies and case outcomes. • Stay updated on evolving immigration laws and policies to ensure compliance. Requirements • Active bar membership. • 0-3 years of experience in immigration law. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently. • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving ability. • Strong teamwork and leadership skills. • Proficiency in conducting thorough legal research using legal platforms. Nice-to-haves • Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages. • Additional experience in specific immigration law specialties or areas of practice.
