Environmental Engineer/Scientist/Consultant - Mid/Senior Level - Midwest Focus (Hybrid/Remote)
About the position
Responsibilities
• Assist with the management of state and federal environmental review and permitting opportunities.
• Work with clients to identify, scope, and manage environmental review, permitting, and compliance projects.
• Provide technical advice and support to clients.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop environmental review documents and permit applications.
• Manage environmental surveys and assessments, including wetland delineations and species inventories.
• Develop regulatory strategies and consult with regulatory agencies.
• Support public involvement activities and business development.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental policy, natural resources management, or related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in environmental review and permitting projects.
• Proven ability to lead and direct multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of NEPA and state-equivalent regulations and processes.
• Familiarity with federal and state regulatory agency staff and resource managers.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Self-initiative and motivation with a focus on client service.
• Willingness to travel and work out of town.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
Nice-to-haves
• Recent experience with environmental permitting for mine sites, especially in the Midwest.
• Experience managing environmental review projects at state and federal levels.
• Familiarity with NPDES, wetland permitting, and endangered species compliance.
• Experience with hydrology and water quality projects.
• Established relationships with mining clients and regulatory agency staff.
• Experience as a third-party contractor on federal EA and EIS projects.
• Experience training and mentoring staff.
• Up-to-date MSHA certification.
