The Associate Vice President (AVP), AI Engineering enables our enterprise AI strategy and oversees the development of scalable artificial intelligence solutions that power next-generation care delivery models for seniors. This role is accountable for creating and leading an AI innovation center. This role and center will help create innovative GenAI-centric solutions that deliver measurable business impact, differentiate the organization in the market, and accelerate top-line growth. The AVP combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to embed GenAI capabilities into product design, automated workflows, and agentic systems. Job Duties/Responsibilities: AI Strategy and Leadership • Partner with Executive leadership to define the enterprise AI roadmap, focusing on scalable GenAI platforms and re-usable AI components • Build and lead an AI Innovation Center focused on enabling AI solutions at an enterprise level. • Translate strategic goals into technical roadmap and build out team’s capabilities to execute effectively against roadmap • Architect and oversee an AI Tools eco-system that enables technically inclined business teams to safely proto-type and self-service the automation of small scale tasks and workflows Agents and Application Development • Lead the design and architecture of GenAI applications and agents using LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, RAG and orchestration frameworks. • Experiment with latest techniques for achieving accurate model output and agentic behavior while ensuring cost-effective delivery • Build and refine agentic systems that enable more timely, more accurate and more extensive delivery of targeted clinical interventions to elevate the quality of care for our members Statistical Rigor and Validation • Ensure rigorous use of statistical methods to assess the performance and accuracy of GenAI agents and applications • Evaluate AI models and products for fairness in output, targeting and actions Cross Functional Collaboration • Partner with stakeholders to define problem statements, identify data sources, and design effective solutions • Collaborate with Data Science and ML teams as appropriate • Build and maintain robust data pipelines, modeling workflows, and monitoring tools in collaboration with engineering and data platform teams Team Development • Recruit and manage a high-performance team of AI Engineers and Data Engineers focused on building and delivering high-value, strategic GenAI capabilities for the organization • Mentor team members; provide technical guidance; foster professional growth; and drive a culture of experimentation and continuous learning Supervisory Requirements: Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Job Requirements: Experience: Required: • Minimum 10+ years professional work experience as a data scientist, engineer or developing ML/AI solutions • Extensive experience with LLM architectures, effective prompting techniques, embeddings and vector databases, and agent/model orchestration frameworks • Record of deploying large scale AI/ML projects in production environments • Demonstrated success in hiring great engineering talent and growing junior team members through mentoring, collaboration and coaching Preferred: • Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industry Education: Required: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related STEM field Preferred: • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field Specialized Skills: Required: • Expert knowledge of GenAI platforms and tools used to build and deploy AI applications and agents • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices for handling data structures and data pipelines • Excellent storytelling skills and the ability to present complex information simply in both small and large group settings to technical/non-technical audiences Essential Physical Functions: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
