Transportation Planner III- Infrastructure Engineering
About the position
AECOM is seeking a highly qualified Transportation Planner III specializing in Infrastructure Engineering to join our Minneapolis office. This role involves creatively solving multimodal transportation problems, conducting research and analysis to inform transportation decision-making, and leading technical analyses and stakeholder engagement efforts. The position requires a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, while also providing oversight to junior staff.
Responsibilities
• Creatively solve multimodal transportation problems
• Conduct research, data reviews, and analysis to inform transportation decision-making and determine potential environmental effects with minimal direction
• Interpret and compare findings of relevant studies for compliance with local, state, and Federal requirements, standard procedures, and client expectations
• Analyze a wide range of planning, land use and transportation data and assist with technical analyses, feasibility studies, and other comprehensive plans, transportation reports or memorandums with minimal oversight
• Assist with modeling of travel time, ridership and cost estimates for public transit projects
• Lead the preparation of reports and maps on various topics
• Lead research and technical analyses on land use and multimodal transportation planning
• Support agency stakeholder and public engagement efforts
• Prepare and give effective presentations
• Work independently and with an interdisciplinary team of technical specialists
• Assist with proposals and business development
• Provide oversight and guidance to junior staff
• Assist with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers
Requirements
• BA/BS or other post graduate degree in Planning, Geography, or related fields + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Strong technical writing skills
• Experience developing USDOT grant applications
• Knowledgeable of FTA CIG program and other transportation funding programs
• Experience advancing projects through the FTA CIG program
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems such as ArcMap, ArcPro, and ArcGIS Online
• Experience in transit network and route design
• Self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills
• Coursework and/or project experience in transportation planning, GIS and data analysis
• Experience in preparing graphics and visuals
• Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and graphical skills
