As a transportation planning intern, you will collaborate with a team of professional planners in a fast-paced environment across a range of projects including transportation plans and studies, federal and state environmental documents, and grant writing. What You Will Do: Transportation Planning Intern activities are listed below: • Assist transportation planners in preparing grant applications for transportation projects. • Prepare maps and text for memos, reports, and information to be shared with the public. • Complete technical analyses related to access, safety, multimodal activities, and other areas as requested. • Assist in preparing federal and state environmental documents for transportation projects including pedestrian and bicycle facilities and roadways. • Assist in developing materials for use at public meetings and events. • Collect, review and analyze data. What You Will Bring: The successful candidate will be: • Enrolled in a four-year college or university majoring in urban/regional planning, civil engineering, geography or related field or in a graduate planning or civil engineering program. • Possess a valid driver's license, have a clean driving record, and • Must be at least 18 years old. Our preferred candidate will have: • Completed at least two years towards a four-year degree or be enrolled in graduate school, majoring in the fields listed above. • Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS software. • Availability to work 40 hours a week at our Golden Valley, MN office during summer months. Opportunities during the school year are also a potential. Hours can be adjusted for school.
