Job Overview

The Information Engineering group at blithequark is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to manage the development and sustainment of products for our Media business. As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be responsible for various data engineering activities, such as maintaining and improving data acquisition processes, data validation processes, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and overall process alerting strategies. Your expertise will play a crucial role in driving business value and shaping business decisions through data analysis and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather data requirements and create source-to-target mappings
  • Develop and review data validation scripts and data pipelines
  • Design and execute database schema/tables/views and deliver datasets as input to science models and representations
  • Monitor and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Decision Science Products, Decision Science, Client, and Technology colleagues
  • Utilize technologies such as SQL (primarily Snowflake and PostgreSQL), Python, Docker, Gitlab, and Windstream to fulfill job responsibilities

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and maintenance
  • Proven knowledge and expertise using Python and SQL (ideally with Snowflake)
  • Experience with developing in a multi-environment (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and DEVOP practices for code organization/development
  • Experience creating and maintaining automated job schedulers
  • Solid understanding of relational database design and functionality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based, such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
  • Proficiency in cloud architecture and product offerings, ideally AWS
  • Experience managing and deploying code using a source control product like GitLab/GitHub
  • Experience using Docker
