Position: Gondola Technician

Job Description:

The Custodian is responsible for performing gondola and waste removal duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that building and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Collect trash and replace garbage liners, clean garbage receptacles as required

• Ability to work between multiple locations

• Dust and cleaning of fixtures, walls, doors, and other vertical or horizontal surfaces as required

• Vacuum carpeted areas, mop tile and concrete floor areas as required

• Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs and any damages

• Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner

• Maintain janitorial and gondola equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition

• Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals

• Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times

• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

• The gondola technician reports to the Custodial Supervisor and cares for the Main building/facilities and equipment. Maintaining these responsibilities will help to ensure the health, safety and security of the public.

• Strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments

• Ability to operate and use tools/equipment

• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions

• Maintain a positive attitude

• Good client/customer service skills

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks

• Ability to work effectively independently or with a team

• Basic knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices, cleaning products and use

Physical Demands: The Custodian position is a physically demanding position. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, lifting heavy objects.
