As an Associate Paralegal, Privacy, you will support the global data privacy program by managing complex data subject requests and ensuring compliance with privacy laws while collaborating with various teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with support engineers to develop consistent responses to non-standard data subject requests under GDPR and other privacy regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate responses to government and law enforcement data requests, ensuring timely and compliant production of required information.
  • Review vendor data processing agreements to identify discrepancies and ensure alignment with GitLab’s privacy playbook and compliance standards.
  • Support privacy compliance by following established playbooks and procedures, ensuring consistent application across tasks.
  • Monitor changes in privacy laws and regulations to adapt processes and maintain compliance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Legal, Security, and Engineering to integrate privacy requirements into business operations.
  • Maintain detailed records of privacy-related activities and support audits or assessments as needed.

Skills

  • Experience in privacy compliance, data protection, or legal operations, preferably within a technology or software environment
  • Foundational knowledge of global data privacy regulations and principles, including GDPR and CCPA
  • Familiarity with privacy management tools and platforms, with willingness to learn new systems such as OneTrust or similar
  • Understanding of data security concepts and their relationship to privacy requirements
  • Ability to follow detailed playbooks and procedures accurately and consistently
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple privacy-related tasks and requests
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain privacy concepts clearly
  • Openness to diverse backgrounds and transferable skills, with a proactive and self-motivated approach to learning and development in privacy compliance
