About the Opportunity
As a Customer Solutions Representative - Collector, you will play a vital role in helping our customers bring their accounts up to date. You will be contacting customers to determine the reason for payment delinquency and negotiating payment commitments. Our team receives extensive training with an emphasis on compliance, negotiating, and selling skills to ensure collection routines are consistent and based on industry best practices. We offer a competitive compensation package, including a starting hourly rate of $23 plus monthly incentives, and a hybrid work environment with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote.
Key Responsibilities
As a Customer Solutions Representative - Collector, your key responsibilities will include:
- Contacting customers to determine the reason for payment delinquency and negotiating payment commitments
- Handling accounts with speed and accuracy while maintaining professionalism
- Completing phone calls to meet required performance standards and metrics
- Confirming and/or negotiating payment arrangements; researching any discrepancies
- Maintaining established objectives for delinquency, repossessions, and net losses; staying informed of changes in policies and procedures
- Maintaining strict confidentiality
- Working flexible schedules, weekends, and holidays, and overtime as necessary to meet business needs
- Using computerized systems for tracking, information gathering, and/or troubleshooting
- Responding to customer inquiries via telephone, Shaw workflows, CRTS, and/or e-mails within established time frames
- Evaluating accounts to find a win-win solution to avoid repossession loss
- Documenting all accounts accurately, clearly, and concisely, noting reason for hardship and potential repossession loss
- Responding with accurate information pertinent to the caller's questions using professionalism and integrity
- Adhering to all state and federal laws in the handling of accounts
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in financial services or a similar industry preferred
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in business or a related field may be used in lieu of experience
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) are a plus
- Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Professional phone etiquette
- Skip tracing skills preferred
- Sales and/or persuasive negotiation skills
- Microsoft Windows and internet-based applications experience required; basic typing/data entry skills
- Ability to multi-task and maintain key performance metrics surrounding delinquency, repossessions, call statistics, and Quality Assurance standards
- Ability to make informed decisions related to acceptable payment arrangements and next steps in collection action
- Strong ability to identify potential loss situations and make appropriate recommendations to mitigate loss, with an aptness to escalate unique collections cases to management
