Proofreader for Phonics Books
We are seeking a detail-oriented proofreader to review our sets of Readers — simple books designed to teach phonics to kids! The ideal candidate will demand accuracy, clarity, and understands editorial guidelines. Experience proofreading teaching materials and children’s story books. An understanding of phonetics is a bonus. Previous storytelling or classroom work that gives you special insight a plus!
Your job will be to examine every single piece of text – no matter how big or small – and to use an exacting eye to spot any slight slip ups, such as missing information, or errors. You will also pay attention to images that contain text and spacing. You’ll also need to check that target letter-sounds are noted and included in the correct book. This role does not include amendments to the creative element of the work, or alterations to artwork, though comments are welcome. Above all, use AI to enhance your abilities!
Requirements
Evidence of writing, editing, or relevant education experience
An ability to collaborate, communicate, and deliver clear amendments
An ability to work efficiently and within deadlines, without compromising on being extremely thorough
