Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention focused team. As a remote position, you will handle incoming chat/text messages through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), also known as 988, providing brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. Key Responsibilities

  • Provides telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals in crisis
  • Answers crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to best meet individual needs
  • Conducts follow-up calls for individuals who are deemed moderate to high risk for suicide
  • Meets the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation
  • Actively participates in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings
  • Assists in administrative tasks as needed

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
  • Six months to one year of related crisis experience is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate via virtual methods
  • Demonstrated high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette
  • Knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources
  • Knowledge of suicide assessments and skill in providing crisis intervention

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience working in a crisis intervention or mental health setting
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and principles
  • Experience working with diverse populations and communities
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
