As the Director, you will serve as the senior leader of our accounting operations, responsible for supervising all aspects of financial reporting, technical accounting, and contract review for our national enterprise. You will be a people-first leader and inspire a team of the most talented accounting professionals from across the country, fostering a high-performance culture that thrives on collaboration and continuous improvement. Your partnership and ability to build relationships across executive leadership—including the VP, Controller, and CFO—will be instrumental in shaping financial strategy and strengthening internal controls, ensuring we maintain our market leadership as we continue to grow. You will recommend and innovate process improvements and automation to support our growth at scale.
In this role you will be responsible to:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-caliber national accounting team, ensuring every member possesses the expertise and drive to excel in a rapidly evolving environment.
• Collaborate with FP&A and other functional leaders to drive business results and support organizational objectives.
• Oversee all financial and technical accounting processes with a focus on accuracy, innovation, and scalability.
• Recommend and implement new or enhanced accounting policies, procedures, and automation initiatives to support our expansion.
• Stay at the forefront of industry standards by researching, monitoring, and applying technical accounting requirements.
• Continuously improve the internal controls to safeguard our assets and reputation.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements; spearhead process improvements to boost efficiency, accuracy, and streamline month-end close cycles.
• Manage the external audit relationship, ensuring a seamless experience that minimizes disruption and sustains operational excellence.
• Lead and oversee complex project management initiatives—including M&A diligence and post-deal integration—delivered on time and within budget.
• Partner with executive leadership on special projects and strategic business initiatives.
• Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and professional development to the accounting staff, including training and performance evaluations.
• Demonstrate agility in managing multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced setting.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Active CPA required, along with 10+ years of progressive accounting and leadership experience
• Proven technical accounting expertise
• Demonstrated success in leading, developing, and coaching large hybrid or remote accounting teams
• Strong systems orientation, with a track record of driving process automation
• Experience managing multi-state accounting operations
• Exceptional ability to lead teams and deliver high-quality work under demanding timelines on multiple projects
• This role is 100% based out of our Mesa, AZ HQ office and will be an on-site position.
• Travel up to 10%, as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years with a Big Four accounting firm
• Experience with Private Equity, and M&A (including integration of accounting functions)
