True Crime Writer Seeks Beta Reader & Proofreader to Polish Riveting Real-Life Stories - Contract to Hire
Are you passionate about true crime, sharp on detail, and honest with feedback?
I’m seeking a skilled beta reader and proofreader to review and refine a series of gripping true crime articles. These stories are based on real cases, and I’m looking for someone who can spot inconsistencies, provide critical insight, and polish grammar, punctuation, flow, and clarity without losing the raw emotional power of the story.
What I need from you:
• A second set of eyes that can view each story like a reader would.
• Constructive, honest feedback (Is it clear? Did it keep your attention? Any parts that don’t work?).
• Light proofreading (grammar, sentence structure, flow, typos).
• A deep respect for the sensitivity and trauma behind true crime.
Ideal Candidate:
• Has experience proofreading or editing (especially in true crime, journalism, or nonfiction).
• Understands pacing, tone, and voice in narrative writing.
• Can commit to a quick turnaround when needed.
• Bonus if you have a background in psychology, criminal justice, or journalism.
Each story is between 1,500–3,000 words. There’s potential for long-term work for the right person.
