Key Responsibilities
- System-Level Hardware Development: Lead the design and development of critical hardware components for the AirPods system, including audio processing circuits, power management, RF modules, and connectivity interfaces.
- Schematic & Layout Expertise: Develop and maintain detailed schematics and PCB layouts, ensuring adherence to rigorous design standards and specifications. Proficiency in industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer) is essential.
- Electrical Analysis & Testing: Conduct thorough electrical analyses, including simulations, power budgeting, and signal integrity analysis. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate hardware performance and reliability.
- Component Selection & Validation: Research, evaluate, and select appropriate electronic components, ensuring optimal performance, cost-effectiveness, and availability.
- Prototyping & Iteration: Develop and iterate on hardware prototypes, working closely with manufacturing and testing teams to refine designs and resolve issues.
- Collaboration & Communication: Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, industrial designers, and product managers.
- Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise and support. Contribute to the development of best practices for hardware design and development.
- Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and resolve complex hardware issues, utilizing strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Staying Current: Continuously research and evaluate emerging technologies and trends in audio and wireless communication.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field). PhD preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience as an electrical engineer in the design and development of high-volume electronic products, preferably in the wearable or consumer electronics industry.
- Expertise in Circuit Design: Deep understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuit design principles, including amplifier design, filter design, and power management.
- PCB Design Proficiency: Strong experience with PCB design and layout, including signal integrity analysis, power integrity analysis, and thermal management.
- RF Design Experience: Experience with RF design and testing, including experience with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth).
- Software & Simulation Tools: Familiarity with circuit simulation tools (e.g., SPICE) and PCB layout software (e.g., Altium Designer).
- Testing & Validation: Experience developing and executing test plans for hardware validation and reliability testing.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Leadership Potential: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
