Join Our Team: Teacher of the Deaf - Elementary Level
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher of the Deaf to join our team at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB). As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will play a vital role in providing standards-based instruction to K-12th grade students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), and collaborating with other educators and support staff to ensure the academic and personal success of our students. You will also be expected to stay current with best practices in Deaf education, participate in professional development opportunities, and contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide standards-based instruction to K-12th grade students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student
- Collaborate with other educators and support staff to ensure the academic and personal success of our students
- Stay current with best practices in Deaf education and participate in professional development opportunities
- Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Education or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, with specialization in Deaf Education
- Appropriate educator licensure in the State of Colorado, endorsed as a Special Education Specialist: Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing, or comparable endorsement
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Advanced (3+) skill level
- Experience teaching or working with children who are Deaf or hard of hearing, or who may have multiple disabilities
