Teaching Fellow EEI - Online
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Fellow to join our team for the Explore Engineering Innovation (EEI) online course at Johns Hopkins University. As a Teaching Fellow, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructor in teaching and mentoring high school students in an online environment. - Participate in daily synchronous 3-hour sessions and be available for occasional study sessions and office hours.
- Assist the instructor in developing a sense of community for high school students participating in the class.
- Provide remote support to students during lab experiments and group data analysis.
- Grade student submissions, including lab reports, homework assignments, and design projects.
- Monitor discussion boards and respond to student messages in a timely manner.
- Create additional videos to supplement course material as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline.
- 3+ years of experience as a high school teacher in a STEM discipline.
- Excellent classroom management skills and knowledge of Algebra II and Trigonometry.
- Familiarity with Canvas or similar Learning Management System (LMS).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Proficient with Zoom or similar video conferencing software.
- Availability to teach from June 26 to July 28, Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering.
