You'll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you-because when you feel valued, you're empowered to do your best work.Job SummaryThe Digital Infrastructure Senior Project Manager will play a pivotal role in the design and construction of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for new and expanding Data Centres. This position requires a strong foundation in Telecom principles and requires extensive collaboration with Network, Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural teams. The projects will encompass Retail, Hyperscale, and Hybrid data centre design. Other responsibilities include financial planning and reporting; vendor management; real estate evaluation; contract negotiations; bid analysis; legal assessments; and business development. This is a newly created role to support our EMEA region in our Global Design and Construction strategy at an exciting period of growth. Occasional travel may be required for project delivery, depending on project locations, which involves exposure to construction environments.Preferred locations London, Slough, Milan and Frankfurt, however we would consider applications from other locations where Equinix have a presence in EMEA.Responsibilities:Project ManagementOversee global Digital Infrastructure Engineering ICT design, processes, projects, and programsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design and infrastructure strategies, ensuring adherence to Digital Infrastructure ICT Engineering and Construction standardsDefine project scope, objectives, and deliverables in partnership with internal stakeholders specific to data centre constructionFacilitate project meetings, document minutes and action items, and ensure thorough follow-upConduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality, focusing on critical systemsDevelop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on project timelines and budgetsOrganize and maintain project documentation for future referenceTechnicalResponsible for the effectiveness of Digital Infrastructure ICT Engineering and Construction application designDemonstrate familiarity with data centre design principles, including Tier classifications, redundancy, and scalabilityContribute to updates of global Digital Infrastructure ICT Engineering and Construction standards as neededEnsure compliance with Equinix standards, relevant regulations, codes, and industry best practices specific to data centresCollaborate with peers in other regions to drive consistency and technical excellence in design and delivery practicesMaintain knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations relevant to data centres (e.g., electrical systems, cooling technologies, fire safety)Research and analyse data to evaluate operational challenges and authorize necessary actions to resolve issuesVendor RelationsManage global relationships with vendors and suppliers supporting design, hardware installations, upgrades, configurations, repairs, and maintenance servicesSupport in negotiating leases or private construction agreements for bulk dark fibre projects with external suppliersFoster and maintain high-value vendor relationshipsTraining ProgramsIdentify and contribute to the development of training programs for team membersEngage in cross-functional training initiativesContract AdministrationManage Digital Infrastructure ICT Engineering and Construction budgets, coordinating CapEx allocation with the Commercial Management teamConduct near- and long-term financial forecasts to support business objectivesAddress quality issues or non-compliance promptly and effectivelyContribute to the creation and maintenance of best-in-class policies and proceduresEnsure orders are processed in accordance with Equinix's service and operational standards to maintain data integrity and invoice accuracyLeadership ManagementDirect internal and external project team members, including Design, Procurement, Operations, and IT/Network support teamsMonitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at a metro levelPrepare and present regular project status reports to Digital Infrastructure Group leadership and stakeholdersQualificationsBachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Business Information Systems, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experienceExtensive knowledge of Telecommunications and Internet technologies and systemsFundamental understanding of inside plant/outside plant fibre optic cabling and optical components (e.g., DWDM, amplifiers, DCM)Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities effectivelyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesPreferred experience in Network Design, including Network Systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), Data Centre Operating Systems (DCOS), Security, and Customer-facing platformsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, Word), AutoCAD, and Revu BluebeamEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
