Cybersecurity SME, Course Development About the Role: Wisewire is seeking a Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) to partner with an instructional designer in the development of adult-focused cybersecurity learning experiences. This role will help shape course content for learners who are new to technology and cybersecurity, ensuring that instruction is accurate, workforce-relevant, credential-aligned, and accessible to beginners. The SME will contribute to the design of content aligned to a foundational certification pathway that includes ISC² Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA A+, and CompTIA Network+. Responsibilities: • Partner with an instructional designer to develop course content, learning activities, assessments, and applied practice aligned to adult learner needs • Provide subject matter expertise across foundational cybersecurity, cloud, IT systems, and networking topics • Help ensure content accuracy, instructional relevance, and alignment to entry-level workforce expectations • Contribute to content aligned to the following certifications: ISC² Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA A+, and CompTIA Network+ • Review drafts of lessons, labs, case studies, scenarios, and capstone-style activities for technical accuracy and practical relevance • Help translate technical concepts into clear, beginner-friendly instruction for adult learners and career changers • Advise on sequencing and scaffolding so learners build from foundational security concepts into cloud, hardware/software, and networking knowledge in a coherent progression • Support the development of scenario-based and job-connected learning experiences that reflect real entry-level cybersecurity and IT roles • Participate in review meetings and respond to feedback during the course development process Qualifications: • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in cybersecurity and related IT domains • Active or recent experience in cybersecurity, IT support, networking, cloud, systems administration, security operations, governance/risk/compliance, or a closely related field • Experience contributing to instruction, training, curriculum, course development, or mentoring preferred • Ability to work collaboratively with an instructional designer to shape content for adult learners and career changers • Strong ability to explain technical concepts clearly to beginners and non-experts • Familiarity with one or more of the following certifications required, with strong preference for candidates who collectively cover the pathway: • ISC² Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner • CompTIA A+ • CompTIA Network+ • Additional relevant credentials such as Security+, CySA+, CISSP, or similar are a plus, but the focus of this role is foundational, entry-level pathway development rather than advanced certification design • Ability to develop content that is rigorous, supportive, and aligned to real-world workforce expectations for learners entering the field without prior technical experience Role Details • Freelance 1099 Position • Estimated Start Date: April 30, 2026 • Length of contract: May 1, 2026 - October 31, 2026 • Hours per week: Varies; averages 10 hours/week About Wisewire: Who We Are: Wisewire became the bridge between aspiration and realization.
