Staff Data Scientist, Product Analytics - Creatives
About the position
Moloco is seeking a Staff Data Scientist, Product Analytics - Creatives to join their team. This role is critical to ensuring that Moloco’s creative systems become a long-term competitive advantage. The individual will be recognized as a thought leader in the creative domain, influencing product decisions and establishing a trusted framework for measuring creative impact. They will also build durable monitoring, diagnostics, and documentation to increase transparency in creative performance and adoption, reducing ad-hoc fire drills. This is a co-owner role of the creative roadmap, not a support role.
Responsibilities
• Be recognized as a thought leader in the creative domain, someone whose perspective is actively sought when making high-stakes product calls. For example, influence which creative problems we choose to solve, not just how we measure the outcomes.
• Establish a trusted, repeatable framework for measuring creative impact that the organization rallies around. This will enable PM/ENG to ship creative features faster and with more confidence, backed by well-designed experiments and clear success criteria.
• Reduce ad-hoc fire drills by building durable monitoring, diagnostics, and documentation that make creative performance and adoption more transparent.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics) or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience (or PhD + 6 YoE) in data science, product analytics, or a closely related quantitative field, including significant time as a product-facing IC.
• Proven track record of partnering with Product and Engineering to shape roadmaps, define success metrics, and drive decisions through data.
• Demonstrated ability to operate with high ownership and autonomy, including scoping ambiguous problems and driving them to closure.
• Comfort working across time zones and with distributed teams, using strong async communication and documentation habits.
Nice-to-haves
• Graduate or PhD degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics) or equivalent practical experience with 10+ years of experience in related fields.
• Prior experience in ad tech, marketing science, or related domains where creatives, auctions, or optimization systems are central to performance.
• Hands-on experience with creative analytics (e.g., format benchmarking, asset-level performance analysis, interaction or engagement modeling).
• Experience collaborating closely with ML teams to design, evaluate, and iterate on model features and policies.
• Excellent communication skills: ability to synthesize complex analytical findings into simple, actionable narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.
