SUMMARY
The Director, Training and Development is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the training and employee engagement programs in support of the regional program operations. The Director oversees and manage the training staff within the regional program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:
• In collaboration with Operations, Human Resources and Quality Improvement Teams this position directs the development and implementation of training programs for regional operations, within budget parameters.
• Conducts evaluations on training needs or requirements to identify skill/knowledge gaps in employee performance, work situations and changes in policies and procedures.
• Develops and designs curricula, which would include courses and training programs, to support the training needs and requirements
• Investigates and evaluates a variety of in-house and outside training and educational programs.
a. Partners with Operations, Human Resources, and Quality Improvement teams to develop and institute functional employee engagement practices within budgeted parameters to meet those needs.
b. Designs, creates and implements employee engagement programs
c. Utilizes applicable training materials, presentations, handouts, exercises and visual aids
d. Facilitates employment practices and programs through, but not limited to, Town Hall meetings; supervisor training; communications training
a. Partners with Human Resources and IT for ongoing development of the LMS for the program operations requirements.
b. Responsible for the development of the training calendars to ensure each state meets accreditation, licensing, and the Operating Group’s requirements, as well as incorporating evolving best practices.
c. Directs the training committee in each state or region.
d. Leads the designing, creation and updating of training aids, such as manuals, handouts, course exercises and visual aids.
e. Oversees the facilitation an delivery of instruction and employment engagement using multiple modalities including but not limited to: one-on-one, classroom, teleconferencing, web-based training, and computer-based training
f. Oversees the preparation and facilitation of client-specific and clinical type training including but limited to new hire orientation, CPR and medical administration.
g. Reviews feedback of training and employee engagement programs with the stakeholders and modifies programs as needed.
h. Collaborates with the training committees to implement changes to the programs
i. Directs the training committees and training staff
j. Manages and mentors training staff.
k. Maintains current knowledge of organizational and industrial trends and makes appropriate changes for new or updated training and employee engagement programs.
l. Performs other related duties and activities as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages assigned staff including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Makes decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves employee relations issues on a timely basis.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Seven years of related experience
• Previous management experience preferred
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
• Professional Training Certification preferred or as required by state/regulations
Other Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Other Requirements:
• Travel required as need
Physical Requirements:
• Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work
