As a Senior Software Development Engineer in the Data Platform group at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable, high-performance data systems that support our data-driven initiatives. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the architecture, development, and deployment of data solutions, enabling us to deliver personalized, seamless, and exceptional experiences to millions of users worldwide.

The Data Platform team at arenaflex operates a comprehensive suite of platform services and tools that enable the organization to ingest and analyze data at an extraordinary scale. All engineering and product teams derive valuable insights from this data to iterate and deliver better experiences to our customers every single day.

This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager, Data Platform, and offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in one of the most data-intensive environments in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Development Engineer at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with significant responsibilities that directly impact our data infrastructure's success:
- Architect Data Solutions: Combine your deep expertise in Data Platform technologies with your product sense to address high-scale, high-impact data-relevant use cases for other product and engineering teams across the organization.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with Software Engineers and Machine Learning architects to build data platform abstractions that fuel the requirements of different teams, systems, and products.
- Optimize Data Delivery: Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data needed for a wide variety of use cases using SQL and other data processing frameworks.
- Build Streaming Pipelines: Construct stream processing pipelines and tools to support a vast array of analytics and reporting use cases.
- Drive Technology Innovation: Continuously evaluate new and relevant technologies and initiate adoption of industry best practices to keep our platform at the forefront of innovation.
- Lead Technical Discussions: Influence and drive engineering and design discussions within the Data Platform team, ensuring architectural decisions align with long-term goals.
- Embrace Agile Practices: Work in a cross-functional team and collaborate with peers throughout the entire software development life cycle with a strong emphasis on continuous delivery and DevOps principles.
- Mentor and Guide: Serve as a technical mentor and guide for junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.

Skills and Competencies for Success
To thrive in this role at arenaflex, you'll need a robust technical background combined with exceptional interpersonal abilities:
- Deep Data Platform Expertise: In-depth understanding and experience working with large-scale data lakehouse systems is essential for success in this role.
- Big Data Technologies: Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies including distributed processing frameworks, SQL engines, workflow orchestration tools, messaging systems, and data integration connectors.
- Cloud Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms and their data services including storage, compute clusters, and managed databases.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong programming skills in at least one of the following languages: Java, Scala, Go, or Python.
- Database Fundamentals: Strong understanding of database and data storage fundamentals, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.
- Storage Formats: Strong understanding of modern data storage formats such as Parquet, Hudi, Delta Lake, and similar technologies.
- Communication Skills: Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Streaming Experience (Nice to Have): Experience with real-time streaming data pipelines using contemporary streaming frameworks is highly desirable.
- Lakehouse Solutions (Nice to Have): Experience with data lakehouse solutions and platforms is a plus.
Preferred Education and Experience
- B.Tech/B.E/Masters/PhD in Computer Science from a reputed institution or related technical discipline
- 4-6 years of experience in software development, preferably in data-related teams
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining large-scale data systems
- Proven track record of delivering complex data engineering projects
