Client Manager - Pharmaceutical Process Science
About the Position
We are seeking a Client Manager with experience in pharmaceutical process line programming to support design, client relations, and business development within our growing Life Science team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical Process Systems, APIs, Vaccine Manufacturing, Process Equipment Selection, Scale-Up (Bench to cGMP/CMP Scalability), a strong ability to manage client relationships, knowledge required to help grow our business, and a passion for collaboration and innovation.
Design and consulting projects will span multiple markets and geographies, providing opportunities to broaden your knowledge and deepen your expertise. We are looking for someone who is an independent self-starter and can move quickly and efficiently through science program process planning, support architect and engineering design stages, provide support throughout construction, aid in commissioning/validation planning, and oversee client documentation deliverables. Additionally, the position requires the ability to grow client bases by actively engaging in business development opportunities.
This location for this position is flexible and, for the right person, could be remote in the continental United States. Ideally, this position would be located near one of Pond's offices.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Biology, Biochemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- 8+ years’ experience in Pharmaceutical or Biotech process design engineering
- Experience in upstream or downstream process design, cGMP design, and process validation
- Experience supporting all levels of design from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and validation
- Experience with equipment selection for product line development
- Experience with debottlenecking and optimization of existing facilities
- Advanced experience in cGMP engineering design principles and applicable guides, codes, and standards
- Experience in developing scope of work, estimating, and scheduling professional man-hours for projects
- Ability to lead a small team on a project, deliver presentations to clients, perform as client manager when needed
- Ability to support engineering to complete process engineering documents and review vendor drawings and specifications
- Must be able to size and generate specifications for equipment
- Familiarity with specification and installation of equipment, piping, and instruments
- Ability to mentor and train Junior engineers
- Experienced in process simulation (i.e., ASPEN One, CHEMCAD, Promax, PRO II, or similar)
- Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, drafting software (i.e., AutoCAD, MicroStation)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
- Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work
- Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally
- Ability to travel 25% - While most travel would be domestic, this position could have the opportunity for international travel, in which case a valid passport, or ability to obtain one, would be necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. Pharmaceutical Science
- B.S. Chemistry/Biology
- Experience in small or large molecule pharmaceutical design
- Experience in API and Biologics design
- Experience in scale up from lab or pilot scale to manufacturing or commercial production
- Experience programming and/or designing for CMO or CDMO Clients
