Responsibilities
- Assess personal auto and property risks
- Negotiate conditions, rates, and premiums with brokers
- Apply underwriting guidelines to provide customer-focused insurance solutions
Skills
- Have a solid understanding of knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting practices, and applicable products
- Understand premiums, coverages, deductibles, and billing practices for applicable products
- Are comfortable working with technology and underwriting systems
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound decision‑making abilities
- A relationship‑focused mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with brokers and internal teams
- Effective communication skills
- These skills are typically acquired through a two-year diploma in a relevant field of study such as Business and one to three years of experience in underwriting
