[Remote] High Risk Underwriter Analyst I – Payments & Fintech

Phoenix Ecommerce Technologies is a modern fintech and ecommerce infrastructure company enabling high-risk and emerging-market ISVs to scale responsibly. The High Risk Underwriter will review merchant and ISV applications, assess various risks, and act as a trusted advisor to sales and product teams while ensuring compliant growth. Responsibilities • Review and decision 100% of merchant and ISV applications prior to processor submission • Perform deep-dive underwriting on high-risk ecommerce and embedded payments models • Analyze business models, transaction flows, chargeback exposure, fraud risk, and compliance posture • Evaluate financial statements, bank statements, processing history, and credit data • Assess regulatory and card brand compliance (Visa, Mastercard, card network rules) • Identify mitigation strategies including reserves, rolling holds, limits, monitoring, and controls • Partner with Sales, Partnerships, and ISVs to structure approvable submissions • Prepare underwriting summaries and recommendations for processors and sponsor banks • Maintain strong relationships with processors, acquiring banks, and compliance partners • Support audits, reviews, and ongoing merchant monitoring programs Skills • Minimum 2 years underwriting experience in a high-risk payments environment • Strong understanding of high-risk ecommerce, digital goods, and subscription models • Experience underwriting ISVs, PayFacs, or embedded payments platforms • Working knowledge of fraud, chargebacks, and risk mitigation frameworks • Ability to make independent, defensible underwriting decisions • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Advanced risk assessment and critical thinking • Strong judgment with a balanced risk-reward mindset • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments • Comfort working cross-functionally with sales and product teams • Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline • Professional presence with internal and external partners • Minimum 3 years experience in payments, fintech, acquiring, or merchant services Company Overview • WHITE CODE is a Certified Odoo Gold Partner in UK, KSA & Egypt with complete customized solutions.
