Salesforce Technical Lead (Remote, Flexible Hours)
About the position
Design, and deliver scalable Salesforce solutions that help grantmaking organizations streamline operations and maximize their impact. As our Salesforce Technical Lead, you will serve as the technical authority within projects, ensuring that our solutions are well-architected, maintainable, and aligned with Salesforce and Grantbook quality standards. Reporting to and collaborating closely with the Salesforce Delivery Lead, you are focusing on the technical quality and resilience of solutions, mentoring developers and consultants, guiding design (and design trade-off) decisions.
Responsibilities
• Lead a Nonprofit Cloud implementation, ensuring Salesforce solutions are well-architected, maintainable, and aligned with industry quality standards.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor team-wide across other clients (implementation and managed services projects alike)
• Translate philanthropic, and in particular grantmaker, requirements into sector-specific solutions that are replicable and may differ from the general Salesforce practices.
• Proactively stay current on Salesforce platform releases, including but not limited to Sales Cloud, Nonprofit Cloud, Grantmaking, Nonprofit Success Pack, Experience Cloud, and translate these updates into actionable improvements for our clients and team members.
• Establish and maintain quality assurance practices, including solution reviews, reusable templates, configuration and testing frameworks, that elevate delivery consistency across projects.
• Lead technical peer reviews, weekly office hours, and knowledge-sharing sessions to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
• Ensure all solutions are client-ready, resilient, and flexible enough to support the future evolution of grantmaker needs.
• Drive development and maintenance of managed packages that are tailored to our grantmaker clients.
• Mentor architects, developers and implementation consultants, building technical confidence across the team and creating clear pathways for skill growth.
• Collaborate with the Salesforce Delivery Lead on project governance, process improvements, and the long-term technical roadmap for Grantbook’s Salesforce business line.
• Lead weekly team standups and working groups as needed.
• Contribute to Grantbook’s thought leadership by co-authoring quarterly blog posts, speaking at internal forums, and sharing insights on Salesforce innovations for grantmakers.
• Strengthen Grantbook’s reputation as a trusted partner for complex Salesforce implementations and managed services in the philanthropic sector.
Requirements
• 4 years with Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, Liquid).
• 4 years with integrations using APIs and middleware (e.g. MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica, Workato) to transform Salesforce to an ERP.
• 6+ years Salesforce configuration and solution design in NPSP, Nonprofit Cloud, OmniStudio and Experience Cloud
• 6+ years translating complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions, with the ability to advise on design tradeoffs between declarative and programmatic approaches and within budget.
• Proven ability to mentor Salesforce professionals, providing peer reviews and technical leadership in a consulting and client-facing environment.
• Awareness of Salesforce security best practices and compliance considerations (e.g., GDPR, data privacy for nonprofits/foundations).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into plain English for non-technical client stakeholders.
• Application Architectural certification
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in building a knowledge database of managed packages, frameworks and reusable templates.
• Experience with data migration at scale with impeccable , ensuring accuracy, data integrity., and long-term maintainability.
• Knowledge of nonprofit funding cycles and financial workflows (applications, approvals, contracting, disbursements, grantee reporting). Knowledge of general operational bottlenecks are helpful.
