AWM Portfolio and Market Strategist, Senior Specialist
About the position
As a senior member of Vanguard’s Advice Enablement & Thought Leadership Team, you will serve as a leading voice in Advice & Wealth Management investment strategy and portfolio construction, translating complex market research and multi-asset insights into actionable guidance for Vanguard financial advisors and clients. This role is critical to reinforcing Vanguard’s position as a trusted leader in investment thought leadership and scalable advice solutions. You will help shape the evolution of our investment methodology, ensuring it remains rigorous, client-focused, and responsive to changing market dynamics.
Responsibilities
• Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis on portfolio construction, asset allocation, and investment strategy, delivering insights that enhance Vanguard’s advisory capabilities.
• Develop concise, high-impact thought leadership content—including research briefs, presentations, and market commentaries—for advisors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Partner with investment and advice teams to identify strategic research priorities, scope projects, and deliver insights that address real-world client and advisor needs.
• Play a leading role in refining and advancing Vanguard’s investment methodology, contributing to the development and launch of new investment solutions.
• Serve as an internal authority on investment strategy, supporting ad-hoc research, building research inventory, and providing consultation to advisors and team members.
• Contribute to strategic discussions on emerging investment themes, market risks, and research opportunities; recommend new areas for exploration.
• Coach and develop investment analysts on the team, elevating standards for analytical depth, writing quality, and executive communication.
• Lead or support special projects aligned with the team’s strategic goals.
Requirements
• Eight years of relevant experience, including at least five years in investment analysis or research; wealth management experience is a strong plus.
• Deep expertise in multi-asset portfolio construction, asset allocation, risk management, and investment strategy.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Nice-to-haves
• Graduate degree preferred.
• CFA®, CAIA®, or equivalent professional designation preferred.
