Key Responsibilities
Transcription Excellence
- Accurately transcribe radiology reports from dictated audio recordings and pre‑formatted (canned) reports covering mammograms, ultrasounds, MRI, CT, and image‑guided procedures.
- Ensure proper formatting, terminology, and compliance with MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) and other regulatory guidelines.
- Review and edit drafts for grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency with departmental standards.
- Maintain a turnaround time that meets or exceeds the department’s service level agreements, guaranteeing timely communication of results.
Data Management & EHR Integration
- Enter finalized reports into the electronic health record (EHR) system with precision, linking each document to the correct patient profile.
- Generate and dispatch result letters to referring physicians and patients, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
- Update the tickler system with follow‑up dates, breast density information, surgical recommendations, and any additional surveillance requirements.
- Maintain and reconcile physical charts when required, ensuring a seamless bridge between digital and paper records.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with radiologists to clarify ambiguous dictations, request additional information, and verify findings.
- Interact with technologists, scheduling staff, and patient services teams to resolve documentation discrepancies promptly.
- Provide feedback on workflow improvements and suggest enhancements to transcription software and EHR interfaces.
Compliance & Confidentiality

Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience transcribing radiology reports, with a proven track record of high accuracy.
- Demonstrated mastery of radiology terminology, imaging modalities, and procedure codes (CPT, ICD‑10).
- Proficiency in transcription software (e.g., Dragon Medical, Philips SpeechExec) and advanced word‑processing tools.
- Typing speed of at least 80 WPM with a ≤2% error rate.
- Strong grasp of medical ethics, confidentiality standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, MQSA).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear interaction with radiologists and multidisciplinary teams.
