As we expand into state and federal contracting, we are seeking a bid writer who knows how to translate our capability into winning proposals that open doors and create steady, meaningful revenue. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced State & Federal Government Bid Writer to lead our pursuit of public-sector contracts. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities, writing compliant and compelling bids, managing submissions, and helping Skyy Screen Printing build a sustainable government-contract pipeline. This is a results-oriented role—measured not by pages written, but by contracts won. Key Responsibilities Opportunity Discovery • Research and identify relevant state, federal, tribal, and municipal bid opportunities • Monitor platforms such as SAM.gov, state procurement portals, and local agency postings • Evaluate opportunities for fit, margin, and win probability Proposal Development • Write, edit, and submit RFPs, RFQs, IFBs, and sole-source justifications • Translate Skyy Screen Printing’s services (screen printing, embroidery, apparel, promotional items) into clear, compliant responses • Develop technical narratives, pricing support language, and compliance matrices • Ensure proposals meet all formatting, submission, and deadline requirements Compliance & Documentation • Maintain and update SAM registration, certifications, and vendor profiles • Prepare and manage documents related to: • Minority-Owned / Small Business status • W-9, insurance certificates, capability statements • Past performance and references Win Strategy & Process Improvement • Collaborate with ownership to develop bid/no-bid decisions • Track submissions, outcomes, and feedback • Continuously refine templates, boilerplate language, and pricing strategies • Build a repeatable, scalable government-bidding system Required Qualifications • Proven experience writing state and/or federal government bids • Strong understanding of government procurement processes • Exceptional writing, editing, and organizational skills • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with precision • Comfortable working independently and reporting results clearly Preferred Qualifications • Experience with print, apparel, promotional products, or manufacturing bids • Familiarity with small business, minority-owned, or SBA set-aside programs • Past success winning multi-year or recurring government contracts • Experience creating capability statements and proposal templates What Success Looks Like • First government contract win within initial months • Growing pipeline of repeat agencies and renewals • Reduced bid turnaround time with higher win rates • Skyy Screen Printing positioned as a trusted government vendor Compensation • Flexible structure: • Hourly or contract-based • Performance incentives per win (preferred) • Long-term opportunity as government revenue grows Why This Role Matters This is not a back-office position.
