Cornerstone Accounting Solutions is a growing accounting firm serving 120+ small businesses. Most of our clients have 1–20 employees and rely on us for accurate, compliant, and well-documented payroll processing.
We are hiring a Part-Time Payroll Specialist who will own payroll processing for multiple small business clients inside a CPA-style environment.
This is not a corporate payroll role.
This is not an HR role.
This is not a payroll manager or department-building role.
This is a hands-on, multi-client payroll operator role.
What You Will Own
• End-to-end payroll processing for multiple small business clients
• Federal and state payroll tax filings (941, 940, and state equivalents)
• State withholding and unemployment registrations
• Garnishments and payroll deductions
• Payroll tax notice resolution
• Direct communication with business owners regarding payroll and compliance
• Documentation and tracking of payroll activity
Our payroll platforms include Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, ADP, Square, and other small business systems.
What We Are Looking For
• Experience processing payroll for multiple small business clients within a CPA firm or accounting practice
• Hands-on experience with state registrations and payroll tax notices
• Comfort working across multiple payroll platforms
• Strong validation mindset (you compare, reconcile, and document)
• Comfortable communicating directly with business owners
• Able to operate independently within 90 days
We use documented workflows and checklists. We are looking for someone who values structure, compliance, and getting payroll right.
This role may expand to full-time as payroll volume grows.
If your experience is primarily internal corporate payroll or HR-only payroll, this role will likely not be a fit.
