Position Overview
As an Independent Cannabis Insurance Adjuster with BCSI, you will investigate, evaluate, and report on property, liability, crop, theft, equipment, and business interruption claims involving licensed cannabis operations. This role is fully remote and field‑based, ideal for adjusters who excel at autonomy, decision‑making, and on‑site inspections.
You will work with cultivation sites, manufacturing facilities, dispensaries, greenhouses, testing labs, and distribution operations—each with distinct risk profiles and regulatory considerations.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct on‑site inspections at cannabis farms, indoor grows, extraction labs, greenhouses, and retail/dispensary facilities.
• Document and evaluate losses related to fire, water, mold, contamination, theft, equipment failure, environmental exposure, and facility shutdowns.
• Assess cannabis crop damage across all growth stages and determine valuation based on operational data and policy language.
• Review policy terms, endorsements, coverage limits, and cannabis‑specific exclusions to determine claim validity.
• Prepare clear, comprehensive written reports with findings, liability assessments, and recommended settlement amounts.
• Communicate effectively with carriers, claim managers, cannabis operators, and third‑party experts.
• Maintain strict compliance with state regulations and BCSI quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
• Active state adjuster license in one or more of the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, OR, UT, WA, WY.
• All‑Lines Adjuster License or equivalent state requirement.
• Experience handling property, liability, commercial, agricultural, or specialized claims.
• Knowledge of the cannabis industry, including seed‑to‑sale operations, regulatory rules, security standards, and facility risk profiles.
• Strong field investigation skills, including photography, measurement, interviewing, and documentation.
• Familiarity with cannabis‑specific insurance topics (claims handling, crop valuation, product liability, contamination, business interruption).
• Adjusters with CICS, ACA, or similar industry training are highly encouraged to apply.
Why Work with BCSI?
