Lighting Technical Assistant
<p><b>Job Summary:</b></p><p></p><p><span>Do you have a passion for the technical intricacies of lighting, compositing, and rendering? We're looking for Lighting Technical Artists who can collaborate closely with the Lighting Team to set up sequences and help complete and deliver creatively approved shots. You'll have the opportunity to learn NAS tools, pipeline, and workflows, ensuring that you resolve issues in a production-friendly manner.</span></p><p></p><p><b>What You’ll Do:</b></p><ul><li><p><span>Support Lighting Artists in the lighting and rendering shots.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Conduct initial testing of assets for render time and workability in a lighting context.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Evaluate diagnostic renders to proactively identify and resolve issues.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Work with Lighting Technical Directors on the reporting of issues. Communicate with upstream departments regarding asset and shot issues. Propose potential remedies.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Assist Lighting Artists in diagnosing scene workability issues. Suggest workflows that improve lighting performance and decrease iteration time.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Document lighting processes, troubleshooting tips, and workflow for the department.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Collaborate with other Lighting TA’s in problem-solving, knowledge sharing, and best practices.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Confirm image and matte deliveries for the Finishing Department.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Perform shot lighting when tasked by Lighting Lead or Lighting Supervisor.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>What You’ll Need:</b></p><ul><li><p><span>Experience in a film, series, or game production environment. Course work in supporting fields is also acceptable.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Knowledge of DCCs such as Maya, Blender, Katana, Houdini or Nuke.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Artistic background preferred.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Understanding of the animation process, including lighting and compositing is a plus.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Tool building and scripting experience is preferred.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Self-motivated and proactive style.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Excellent ability to communicate effectively</span></p></li><li><p><span>Adaptable and calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Strong ability to manage tasks and report progress.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><i>This role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hybrid Role (Minimum of 3 days a week in the office).</i></p><p></p><p><i>At NAS, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The overall market range for this role is typically $65K - 100K CAD.
