Game Designer

One of the top performing independent studios in the US market is hiring a Jr/Mid Game Designer to work remote from anywhere in the US. This company has strong US leadership and game design with offshore production delivering number one games. You will design new games centered on proprietary mechanics. Under senior guidance—but with day-to-day independence—you'll own Game Design Documents (GDDs) from concept to handoff, ensuring math, mechanics, art, and animation align to create compelling, market-ready slots. Responsibilities: • Craft complete GDDs: game concepts, feature specs, paytables characteristics, progressions, volatility targets, and player journey using library of successful mechanics with your own invention. • Translate product goals into clear math models (RTP/hold, volatility profile, hit rates, feature frequency, pacing). • Build wireframes, simple flows, and specs for art & animation that reflect U.S. player expectations. • Analyze top-performing land-based games and trends; propose mechanics grounded in what actually moves the needle. • Collaborate with artists/animators, math engineers, and developers to shepherd designs through production and QA. Minimum Requirements: • Mathematical background (e.g., statistics, probability, game math, or similar practical experience). • Strong knowledge of U.S. slot market (land-based): themes, cabinet constraints, pacing, player behaviors, regulation basics. • Ability to produce professional GDDs independently. • Working knowledge of art/animation requirements for slot games (symbols, reels, transitions, UI/UX for slots). • Proficiency with common design tools (e.g., Photoshop/Illustrator, Figma or equivalent) and Excel/Google Sheets for math models.
