BCG Attorney Search is a top-tier Intellectual Property firm seeking a 3–4 Year Patent Prosecution Associate to draft and prosecute patents in various technology sectors, including software and hardware. This role involves working directly with inventors and business leaders to protect high-impact innovations while advising clients on IP portfolio development and prosecution strategies.
Responsibilities
• Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications, including claim strategy and specification development
• Prepare and respond to Office Actions, including examiner interviews and argument drafting
• Advise clients on IP portfolio development, competitive positioning, and protection strategies
• Work closely with inventors, engineers, and in-house counsel to understand innovations and translate them into strong patent filings
• Support portfolio reviews, invention harvesting, and prosecution strategy across multi-patent families
• Assist with patentability assessments and issue-spotting for new inventions and product launches
• Maintain high-quality work product and manage multiple deadlines across active matters
• Collaborate with partners and teams to deliver consistent client service across sophisticated portfolios
Skills
• 3–4 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Demonstrated experience drafting patent applications and prosecuting through allowance
• Strong analytical, writing, and client communication skills
• High attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines in a team-based environment
• USPTO registration required
• Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science (or equivalent technical background)
• Exposure to technology areas such as cloud computing, AI, software platforms, hardware systems, and emerging technology products
• Programming background or working understanding of software coding concepts
• Experience supporting large-scale portfolios or advising institutional clients (e.g., major companies, universities)
