Entry-Level Transit/Rail Engineer - Networking Event with AECOM – Raleigh
AECOM is a global infrastructure leader committed to delivering a better world. They are seeking an Entry-Level Transit/Rail Engineer to support their growing Transit and Rail practice in North Carolina, working on various transit and rail projects and collaborating with experienced engineers and planners.
Responsibilities
- Support planning, preliminary engineering, and detailed design for rail and transit infrastructure projects, including freight, commuter rail, light rail, streetcar, bus rapid transit (BRT), and transit facilities
- Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, technical reports, and specifications under the supervision of senior engineers
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard engineering procedures, methods, and criteria to complete design tasks
- Preparing engineering‑related calculations, drawings, and visual aids to support project development
- Assisting project managers and senior engineers with task production and coordination
- Applying civil and transportation engineering principles and practices to assigned projects
- Assisting with maintaining project documentation and files in accordance with project and quality requirements
- Producing high‑quality plan sets that accurately and clearly communicate design intent
- Working under the supervision of a project manager or senior‑level team member
- Collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams while gaining exposure to project delivery processes, schedules, and budgets
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be organized and detail-oriented
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
- Willingness to travel (if and when required)
- Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- Familiarity in freight or transit rail clients
- Previous work experience in rail is preferred
