Software Design Student
Daktronics is a company that creates cutting-edge digital LED display technology and audio systems. The Software Design Student will engage in meaningful work, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship while developing software applications and testing skills.
Responsibilities
- Finding and reporting software deficiencies
- Assist in manual testing of software
- Track test results and quality metrics
- Become proficient in the use of testing tools and methodologies
- Work with users and Daktronics personnel to answer questions and resolve problem
- Create automated test scripts for regression testing
- Create automated tests from approved 3rd party tools
- Leverage AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools in managing test cases and testing solutions
- Develop, debug, and maintain software applications using Microsoft Visual Studio
- Develop and support software applications using development languages like C#, C++, JavaScript, etc. and other software development tools like Salesforce, Azure, Angular, and other cloud-based services
- Work within a development team to solve problems
- Write unit tests for new code and existing code
- Complete quality work in a timely manner
- Assist in the development of software product requirements and design documentation
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned
Skills
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related degree
- Only strong academic performers will be considered and must maintain an acceptable GPA, with preference to 3.0 GPA or greater
- Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation
- Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Daktronics does not sponsor, renew, or extend immigration visas for this position
- Object oriented programming knowledge is required
- The preferred applicant will be a student registered in at least 12 credits
- The preferred applicant will be in their sophomore or junior year of school
- Knowledge of C++, C#, and/or Java preferred, but other object-oriented languages are acceptable
- Knowledge of the Microsoft.Net Framework and Visual Studio
- Knowledge of GIT or other source control software
- Good oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate complex technical concepts
- Shown ability to work collaboratively on projects or with a partner/team
