They are seeking a Customer Service Specialist I to handle incoming calls, manage patient accounts, and ensure excellent customer service in a supportive remote work environment.
Responsibilities
- Handle a high volume of incoming calls from patients, insurance carriers, and physician offices
- Collect outstanding patient balances and establish payment arrangements professionally
- Document payment terms and update patient accounts with new insurance and demographic information
- Address customer inquiries, disputes, and complaints, escalating issues as necessary
- Maintain clear documentation of work and follow-up steps in the billing system
Skills
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Minimum of 6 months' experience in a physician billing or third-party payer environment
- Understanding of contracts, insurance benefits, and compliance regulations
- Ability to navigate the payer adjudication process
- Experience with patient financial and practice management systems, such as Epic
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Previous call center or claims experience
- Experience in an academic healthcare setting
