Job Overview

As a Part Time Remote Customer Service Specialist at arenaflex, you will be the initial point of contact for patients, healthcare facilities, physicians, clinical staff, and practices, facilitating patient healthcare needs and providing exceptional customer service. You will be responsible for answering a high volume of inbound calls, navigating our electronic health record system, and capturing and documenting demographic and financial information. Key Responsibilities

  • Navigate the electronic health record system to obtain and validate historical information, capture and document demographic and financial information, and maintain accountability for accurate data entry while ensuring patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
  • Manage a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and providing excellent customer service in a variety of situations.
  • Leverage critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity, researching complex issues and consulting/escalating to clinical staff when necessary.
  • Schedule patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verify and update insurance, and collect and document demographics, maintaining proficiency in and sharing knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions.
  • Manage calls within established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time, and communicating in a professional, positive, and respectful manner with patients, providers, arenaflex staff, and external organizations.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of experience in customer service or healthcare, with a strong preference for recent healthcare experience
  • Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute with 90% accuracy
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, as this is a safety-sensitive position
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research complex issues and consult/escalate to clinical staff when necessary
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate in a professional, positive, and respectful manner with patients, providers, arenaflex staff, and external organizations

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience working in an electronic health record system
  • Knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions
  • Previous experience working in a call center or customer service environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions
