[Remote] Ruby on Rails Developer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Insight Global is seeking a Senior Developer for a Higher Education client to join a collaborative development team. This role focuses on modernizing legacy PHP applications to Ruby on Rails within an AWS environment and supporting existing systems built on ASP.NET. Responsibilities • Modernizing and migrating legacy PHP applications to Ruby on Rails within an AWS environment • Supporting existing systems built on ASP.NET with a SQL Server backend • Contributing across the full development lifecycle—design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support • Improving front-end usability and visual polish • Accelerating delivery for high-priority customer initiatives • Reducing knowledge silos within the team • Aligning processes with modern development practices • Playing an active role in documentation, knowledge sharing, and process improvement Skills • 5+ years of professional experience as a web or full-stack developer • Strong background in object-oriented programming specifically with Ruby on Rails • Experience designing and working with cloud-based architectures, preferably AWS • Excellent front-end development skills, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with a proven ability to deliver clean, polished, and user-friendly interfaces • Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy applications • Experience supporting ASP.NET applications with a SQL Server backend • Familiarity with containerized development environments • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices • Hands-on experience with cloud migration projects Company Overview • Insight Global provides top talent and staffing solutions that help job seekers find careers in healthcare, finance, IT, and government.
