Japanese Annotator - Freelance - Remote in Japan

Work location: Remote in Japan Engagement model: Independent Contractor/Freelance Workload: approx. 10 hours/week Estimated project duration: 2 months Estimated project start: January 2026 Languages Needed: Japanese and English Role Summary: DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking skilled Japanese-speaking Annotators for an exciting and innovative artificial intelligence project. As a Japanese Annotator, you will be responsible for sourcing, listening to, transcribing, annotating, and labeling Japanese audio data to support the development of state-of-the-art AI technologies. Role Responsibilities: • Identify and source Japanese-language audio content from the internet (such as podcasts, videos, etc.) • Transcribe Japanese audio recordings to create high-quality datasets for language model training • Annotate and label audio and text data according to project guidelines • Assess and evaluate the performance of Audio Speech Recognition systems • Assess and evaluate the output of Text-to-Speech models • Curate data to build golden datasets Requirements • Idiomatic fluency in Japanese • Proficiency in English • Previous experience in transcription, annotation, or related projects is highly desirable • Understanding the principles of AI/ML training and data curation for golden datasets is a plus • Exceptional attention to detail • Strong language skills (advanced listening comprehension, accurate transcription abilities, nuanced language understanding, error detection, etc.) • Availability to work approximately 10 hours per week. Fluctuation in workload is expected.
